Canadians like to joke that we never get four distinct seasons. More often than not we jump right from hot summer days to thunder and lightning, or from frigid winter temperatures to wind storms. But no matter the weather Mother Nature picks, we all struggle with the same hair troubles.

The Dry Season

Whether your hair is dry from styling or the harsh Canadian weather, brittle hair is never fun.

Repair & Replenish Shampoo is great for those with dry or damaged hair. Made with Canadian Abyssinian Oil, this natural shampoo improves shine, increases moisture and protects the hair shaft from further damage caused by elements or styling.

If you find that your tresses benefit from a longer-lasting hit of moisture, you may enjoy adding a few pumps of our Ultimate Massage Oil (yes, you read that right) to your conditioner. Work the mixture through your hair in the shower, leave in for 2-3 minutes, and rinse with lukewarm or cool water. This is great for those who have thick or hard-to-manage hair, or those who may struggle with flyaways or breakage during the driest months.

A DIY hot oil treatment is also a lovely treat for your dry tresses. Start by warming up a half a cup of coconut, olive or almond oil. (Make sure it’s not too hot!). Massage it into your hair for a few minutes then cover with a warm towel for 30 minutes or even leave it in overnight. Then shampoo your hair, rinse and admire your rejuvenated locks.

The Frizzy Season

Depending on your type of hair, frizziness could be caused by too much humidity or not enough. Our Hydrate and Smooth Conditioner has been formulated to combat frizz while adding moisture, shine and detangling. The main conditioning agent is made from Brassica Oil and through natural processing, this ingredient is transformed into a conditioner which helps detangle and calm static.

Calm flyaways and hydrate your thirsty locks with our Ultimate Massage Oil. Apply a small amount to your hands and massage into your hair starting and the ends and working your way up. Then let your strands drink up the moisture without looking greasy. Best of all, Abyssinian Oil doubles as a heat protector so you don’t have to feel guilty on the days you bring out the straightener.

The Dull Season

Dull hair can creep up on us at any time of year. One day you look in the mirror and wonder where all your shine went. Start by trying to stretch out the time between washing so you allow your natural oils to keep your hair shiny and luscious. If you are a daily hair-washer, a dry shampoo can help you go a day or longer between washings.

Fun Fact: our Baby Bum Powder works great as a natural dry shampoo. Sprinkle a little bit on your hands and massage it through your roots before you head to bed. The lavender scent perfect for bedtime and the tapioca starch, kaolin clay and arrowroot powder will help absorb excess oil.

No matter the hair troubles you struggle with, know that you’re not alone. You may not find the perfect solution on your first try, but be patient and experiment to see what makes your hair happiest. Putting in a little extra effort and giving your locks some love will go a long way to achieving healthy and more manageable locks. Here’s to making every day a great hair day!
