Skin is the body's largest organ. It protects us from the harsh effects of the sun, wind, pollution and environmental contaminants—so it's important to take good care of it. Over time, the skin on our face and body can take quite a beating from the elements, leaving it looking dull, dry and flaky. Luckily, there's an easy way to give it back its glow: exfoliation.

What is Exfoliation?

Exfoliation is a process that removes dead skin cells from the upper layer of the skin, revealing the healthy skin beneath. Our skin can shed between 30,000 to 40,000 dead cells per minute, but most of us (particularly those of us in our 30s or older) need to manually exfoliate our skin to keep it looking radiant. As the weather gets colder and the humidity levels drop, exfoliation becomes even more important.

Three Reasons to Exfoliate

Smoother Skin

Over time, damage from the sun, hormonal changes, and aging slow down our ability to shed dead cells, as well as our ability to produce new skin cells. This slowed process may lead to undesirable changes in skin's texture and appearance. The good news? Exfoliating your body regularly with our Sugar Body Scrubs can keep skin feeling soft and smooth.

Deeper Clean

If you experience troubled skin on either your face or body (or both), exfoliation can help keep pores clean and unclogged. It also removes dead skin cells from the face and keeps skin from getting trapped beneath the surface.

Fresher Face

Using a Face Polish once or twice per week, depending on your skin sensitivity, will help slough any dead skin cells from your face and promote healthy skin turnover. You'll be left with a more radiant, youthful glow.
