Easy Vanilla Chai Latte Recipe

Where Does Chai Come From?

Chai originates in India and is traditionally made with black tea, whole milk, and fragrant spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. There are a few reasons why you will want to add chai tea into your morning routine:

  • Ginger has been used to support digestion and alleviate nausea
  • Cinnamon is known for its anti-inflammatory properties
  • Caffeine lifts energy levels and stimulates brain power

Vanilla Chai Latte Recipe

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 chai tea bag
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla oat milk, or any milk you prefer
  • 1 ½ teaspoons maple syrup, or more to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Nutmeg, to garnish

Instructions:

Heat water in kettle or small saucepan. Once boiling, place the chai tea bag and hot water into a mug to steep for 5 minutes.

While the tea is steeping, warm vanilla oat milk in a small pot over low heat. As milk warms, add maple syrup to milk mixture. When tiny bubbles begin to form on the edges of the pan and milk is steaming, remove from heat.

Place the end of your frothing wand (if you have one) into the warm milk and foam for 15 seconds.

Remove tea bag from mug and add oat milk.

Stir chai tea and oat milk mixture together with cinnamon stick to infuse flavour.

Garnish with nutmeg and enjoy.
