We know that for many, a satisfying lather is what makes a shampoo feel like it’s working. So when we set out to create our liquid shampoo formulas, we wanted that same lather experience—without compromising on ingredients. That’s why we chose Soap Nut Aqueous Extract as a key ingredient in all our liquid shampoos. Despite the name, soap nuts aren’t actually nuts—or soap. They’re berries from the Acacia concinna tree, packed with saponin, a natural cleansing agent. When activated with water, saponin produces a gentle lather that lifts away dirt and buildup—without stripping your hair, leaving soft, fresh, and balanced.

I always loved this shampoo, recently I purchased the new “Rocky” branded shampoo and noticed it’s not as thick, and that I needed to use significantly more to get the same amount of lather I used to with the what seemed like older branded more concentrated formula. I looked at the old bottle and sure enough the ingredients have changed since the new rebranding. Water is now the first, and most, ingredient! Very disappointed for the cost you pay with a product like this. I always justified the cost because the older branded concentrated formula lasted a long time… this isn’t the case with the newer formula under the Rocky branding. Not sure I will repurchase.
Update: the manufacturer reached out to explain that ingredients are the same, just listed differently due to regulation requirements.

This is a re-order as over the years it’s the only thing my kids will use. Nice that it’s not another flowery girly scent too.
The ingredients are clean and my son loves the smell! It’s pricey but we have enjoyed it and ordered over again.
Root Beer Happy Kids Shampoo
I love this! I only need the tiniest amount to wash my son's hair. I've been using it as body wash too and works great. Smells delicious and is gentle on his skin, which is sensitive. He had some mild excema on his legs that actually cleared up since using this.
They already loved the bubble bath, so when we ran out of shampoo I opted to try out Rocky! Super gentle and smells so good!

We were looking for a new shampoo for my husband who has a very sensitive scalp. He was enjoying some of the other "grown up" scents, but wanted to know why I didn't order him the root beer shampoo! He is loving it, it is nice and sudsy but also very gentle, and the bathroom smells really yummy! Love the special top on the small bottles, too.

I purchased this shampoo a while ago with 240ml bottle. I like the smell and the foaming and I give it a bonus point for the sustainability as we need really little of it. But it makes my sons longer hair frizzy and it’s all broken now and thinned out. I always put some of my own hair care in after so I was able to come in, but still… The bottle is still two thirds full, but I am thinking to replace it. 😢

Root Beer Happy Kids Shampoo
This smells like a freshly cracked can of root beer in soap form. My kids absolutely love it, it works, and I love it so much that I’ve been using it myself too! GREAT product
My 5 year old absolutely loved the rootbeer scent and was excited to have his hair washed (usually not the case!). It lathers really well, so a little goes a long way! The only downside is I wish I got the bigger bottle instead :)
The smell of this shampoo is 100% classic rootbeer! Unbelievable scent. My kiddos love it and it helps with motivating them to get into the shower. It suds and rinses beautifully. Definitely a keeper in our household!

The product is fantastic , love the way it leaves my kids hair. Unfortunately none of us are a fan of the scent, wish there was a lavender /vanilla scent or something fruity.

I got this for my granddaughter who hates to have her hair washed. Her eyes lit up when she smelled it and she asked if she could drink it, it smells that much like real root beer! She let me use it without fuss and like all Rocky Mountain shampoo, it left her hair shiny and soft. A unique smell for the kids and a great product for their parents!
