Let's talk about water, shall we? Okay, we know, it's water!

All the water that we use for our products at Rocky Mountain Soap comes from the Canmore area. Straight from the Canadian Rockies, fresh and clean.

Now, we know that you could talk about water for years straight and still never get to the bottom of everything that water does for us. It is vital for life on earth and for humans. Obviously. So, we figured we'd share some fun facts, interesting things about water in Canada and a little about water itself.

Pure water is tasteless and odourless, though humans actually have receptors on their tongues that signal the presence of water. If you are drinking treated, bottled or fresh water, there may be the addition of minerals and dissolved substances which can give different waters a specific taste.

On Earth, less than 1% of the water can actually be used as drinking water. This makes sense if you think about the fact that 97.5% of the water on Earth is salt water and how vast the oceans actually are. The largest mountain range in the world is underwater and stretches for 65000 kilometres. Fun fact: Water is the only substance that naturally exists in three states: solid, liquid and gas.

Interestingly, water is crucial for almost all life on earth but actually carries no nutritional or impactful benefit. It is made up of H2O. So, for every oxygen molecule, there are two hydrogen molecules. You actually probably don't realize how much water you actually consume, use and interact with on a daily basis.

In Canada, we are fortunate to have so much fresh water. Almost 9% of Canada is covered in fresh water, that is a whopping 891000 square kilometres. We also have 563 lakes in Canada. This is a lot of water!
