We’ve been living our lives online for a while now...but there’s always room for improvement when it comes to looking stunning, virtually. For many of us when the pandemic hit our makeup routines went out the window. With time for your skin to breathe, face care has never felt more important. And now, with the holidays just around the corner and many celebrations moving online, here are our best tips for looking amazing from near or far.
1. A solid skin care routine
We believe in slow beauty at Rocky, so caring for your skin every day is the best way to ensure you look radiant. A simple routine of cleanse, tone and moisturise will keep your skin hydrated and dewy. Our Transformative Cleansing Oil
is hydrating, anti-inflammatory plant-powered cleansing in a bottle. Follow that with your favourite toner based on need (Hydrating, Purifying or Calming
) and a dab of our superstar Day Cream
facial moisturiser to lock in all that goodness.
2. Shine bright
You don’t want your complexion to look dull and a quick fix to keep your skin looking bright is through exfoliation. When you exfoliate, you remove the dead skin cells sitting on top of your fresh layers of skin — promoting cell regeneration and allowing your skin to suck up all the goodness in your moisturiser more readily. Hello hydration! Grab your favourite Face Polish and get going.
3. Don't forget the background
It’s so easy to forget, but make sure your background is free of clutter! When in doubt, throw a virtual background on and make a joke of it.
4. Lights, Camera …
Avoid looking like Count Dracula (his month was October...) with the right lighting. The easiest, most rookie mistake to make is not having your biggest light source facing you. Make sure your main light source is hitting you from the front, not backlighting you (creating that spooky look). It can even help in a pinch to up the brightness on your computer. The screen light will help illuminate you.
5. Avoid big busy patterns
A truly zany pattern might bring joy to your day, but it might also distort on video or be distracting over a video call. Let that gorgeous face do all the talking for you and keep the patterns dialed down. What are your tips for turning it on for the camera? Let us know in the comments!
