Your Cart is Empty

Here at Rocky we not only care about what you put on your skin, but what we put into the planet. That’s why we started our Rocky Returnables program. Did you know that by opting for the 1L refill size soap bottles, you save 59% in plastic from landfills?

How does it work?

  1. Bring by your empty 1L bottles to our stores to drop them in the bin. Note: we are only accepting 1L bottles at this time but we do hope to eventually offer it across all products and sizes.⠀
  2. All empty bottles will be sent back to our workshop to be sanitized and refilled with product.
  3. You'll start seeing 1L bottles for sale that have been reused. Feel free to make the choice to purchase a reused bottle instead of a new one.⠀

How do you sanitize the bottles?

The bottle serialization process is quite simple. We use hot water only (83 degrees celsius). The bottles are washed with the hot water and then we dry them using a compressed air system.

Will you be accepting other bottles?

Right now we are only accepting our 1L refill bottles but we do hope to eventually offer this across all of our products.

Which products come in 1L refill size?

I’m an online shopper and don’t live near a store, can I mail back my bottles?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept mailed empty bottles at this time, but stay tuned for more details as we work to find a process for our online shoppers.

Will your retail vendors be offering this?

Unfortunately, our retail vendors are not able to accept empty bottles at this time. This will be something we will explore in the future.

Which stores accept bottles?

All of our stores are equipped with our bins!

Will you be offering a refill station, where I can refill my own bottle?

We tried this method and found it did not work well for our customers. It was also only available in our Canmore store. Our Replenishment program, where we take back empty bottles and refill them at our workshop, seems to be more effective for everyone and we’re excited to be able to offer this across all Rocky stores.

Will you be offering a discount to those that bring back their bottles?

With the cost of shipping and the machinery needed to sanitize the bottles, we won’t be saving any money with initiative, so the cost of our refilled bottles will remain the same. We are looking for like-minded customers that want to work together to help reduce our plastic usage. We’re all in this together!

While it is a great start, it isn’t feasible for me as I don’t have a Rocky store where I live (Ottawa). I shop when in TO or online store. Speaking specifically for Body, hand butters there is no refill. If you can make refills for a stainless steel tube or tin (one time purchase) and then sell solid refills it would be great for everyone.
I do not buy liquids due to travel and these are the items that I waste the most.

Awesome!!! I really hope one day there is a mail in option so I can send mine back from Saskatchewan. That or I need to make more regular trips to Banff! (Not a bad idea….)

Love that you are doing a reusable program for reducing plastic waste! Is hot water sufficient for sterilization? Thank you Rocky for being amazing ♥️
