The Simplest Steps for Youthful Skin
Aging...we all dread it in so many ways, don’t we? Here at Rocky, we do our best to own our age; probably because most of us are really kids at heart. I mean, we make soap for a living; how serious can we take life, really?! But still, even we aren’t big fans of laugh lines, no matter how much joy we got out of making them!
While we do have an amazing skin care line dedicated to restoring aging skin, one question we get asked a lot is what preventative measures our customers can take when it comes to the early stages of fine lines and loss of elasticity in the skin.
We sat down with our Herbalist and Product Development all-star, Tara Martinson, to talk about what she uses to do just that. Here are her "easy as 1-2-3 (4)" steps for your day-to-day skin care regime if the fear of aging skin is starting to plague your dreams.
1. Face polish. This heavenly scrub provides our most intense exfoliation and is amazing for dry, flaky skin. The Vanilla Coconut scent is just incredible, and you can even mix it with our Pomegranate Day Cream and a bit or water. This will make thick, rich paste and give you a super smooth and hydrating ‘creamsicle’ experience after rinsing. The Moroccan Lava Clay is rich in vitamins and great for improving skin clarity and elasticity. Leave on the skin up to 5 minutes to get more benefits from the clay. I love to do this in the shower and leave the product to work for 5 minutes in the steam, and after the shower my face is not as tight and dry as it usually is after a good, hot shower.
2. Face serum. They’re all great, and you can choose one depending on our skin type. I like the Hydrating and the Calming, personally for my skin. Hydrating is richly nourishing and regenerating, with avocado and Frankincense to hydrate and protect dry skin against the elements. Calming is great after lots of exposure to wind, cold, or sun. Apply nightly and allow to absorb a few minutes before applying moisturizer.
3. Day cream. This Day Cream smells amazing (especially mixed with the coconut face polish as above) and is a rich moisturizer that uses all the anti-aging qualities of Pomegranate. It works to protect and improve skin tone.
4. Cleansing oil. To avoid over-stripping the skin's natural oils with facial washes and water, this is as an effective all around facial cleanser that can also be used as a makeup remover. Arnica, rosehip oil, chamomile, and calendula work to soothe dry skin irritation, inflammation, or blemishes.
So if you're not quite ready to hit the anti-aging section of the store, these simple steps can be easily incorporated into your daily routine to keep you looking as youthful on the outside, as you feel on the inside! Now, that's a good reason to smile.
