We love getting outdoors—but it also makes you snacky. That’s why we wanted to share this delicious and healthy DIY granola recipe. Make ahead and it’s there to fuel you on all your adventures.
We originally shared this recipe from our Canmore store manager, Leigha, on our Rocky Family Recipes blog. Leigha loves making this around the holidays, but we say why not have this delicious snack all year round. Feel free to experiment with the ingredients and make it your own.
Prepare all dried fruit by dicing into small, bit sized piece s.
Preheat oven to 275.
Combine all dry ingredients — almond flour, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, oats & seasoning .
Separately combine wet ingredients and stir — maple syrup, vanilla & oil .
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mix until combined, ensuring there are no dry spots.
Spread on to parchment paper, tin foil lined or oiled baking sheet to a compact, 2 cm thickness .
Bake in a preheated 275 degree oven for 40 minutes until golden/firm to touch, rotating the baking sheet(s) after the first 20 minutes.
Allow to cool on stove top or counter with towel covering for a few hours overnight to firm up granola — break apart and put into mason jars/containers!
Enjoy!

This recipe looks great with one suggestion:. Canola oil has been found not to be that great so I would replace that with EVOO, since temperature is not too high, or coconut oil. That’s it! Thank you! Looking forward to my toxin free shampoo!!! Have been seriously detoxing for 6 months to get to the bottom of autoimmune problems. It really should be illegal to put so many toxic things in our food supply. I knew but have become acutely aware of ingredients since being on whole foods n detoxing from things found in my lab work. It’s criminal what the USDA allows!! We have to be our own advocates these days and thankfully there are companies like Rocky Mountain Soap Co to help us make better choices. Thank you!

Hi @Katie!
Thanks so much for sharing. Love the idea of subbing canola oil for coconut or extra virgin olive oil. Great suggestions! Good for you for taking your health into your own hands. We’re so happy to be there on your journey!
