Being kind is a big deal to us. So much so, that is one of our five core values at Rocky Mountain Soap Co. It guides our daily interactions with each other, with our suppliers, customers, partners and our community. In light of #GivingTuesday, we want to highlight some of the opportunities we’ve had to extend kindness and give back to important causes. And we couldn’t have done it without our customers.
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is the nation’s leading not-for-profit, private land conservation organization. For more than 50 years, NCC has remained focused on one goal: to protect our country’s important natural areas for the diversity of species that live in them.
In July, we released a feature soap in celebration of Canada 150 where $1 of every bar sold was donated to the NCC. We sold out of soap within a few days and quickly had to make more batches! Together, we donated a total of $10,048 to the NCC.
In September, our African Shea bar feature soap shared the story of our soap-making trip to Africa with Project SHINE. Project SHINE (Sanitation and Hygiene Innovation in Education) works with youth in Tanzania to promote positive change in cleanliness practices and stop sickness from spreading. We donated $2,300 to further the work of this project, $1 for every bar sold.
Thank you to all of our customers who contributed to these meaningful causes. We receive donation requests almost daily from local organizations and do our best to fulfill them where we are able. #GivingTuesday is a great reminder amidst the busy holiday season. We hope that today and all other 364 days of the year that you would join us in rolling up your sleeves to give back to your community however you can, whether it is with time, money, a helping hand or perhaps, with soap!
