Did you know that Rocky’s been around for 20 years now? Time sure does fly! In the spirit of those two fabulous, all-natural decades, we wanted to shine a spotlight on one of your favourite products: Foot Butter.

Every superhero has an origin story. Did you know that the Foot Butter is our co-owner and CEO, Karina’s personal recipe? “It took me a year and dozens of versions to find the perfect blend of ingredients,” says Karina, when asked how she came to invent this incredible-smelling, ultra-healing cult favourite. She went on a mission to perfect the Foot Butter after she found out that customers were using the regular Body Butter on their feet. “I wanted to boost this recipe with ingredients specific to dry and cracked heels to make an even better product.”

And boy did she ever make a better butter for your feet! Karina wanted a product that applied easily but wasn’t too greasy and solved those dry, cracked heels that customers were looking to soothe. “I fell in love with Carrot Oil for its ability to soften dry skin,” said Karina. “I love the Fir and Grapefruit Essential Oil for healing cracks.”

The product has been a hit and one of our best sellers for close to 20 years now. Its distinct scent of Canadian Balsam Fir is part of the magic (and makes it smell like a Christmas Tree). “We get requests for other scents, like Peppermint, but only offer it in one scent because the Fir, Grapefruit and Lemongrass essential oils are really why the product works so well,” Karina explained.

Balsam Fir has been used as a natural remedy throughout history and is known for its healing and antimicrobial properties, among others. Lemongrass strengthens skin tissue and has huge amounts of antibacterial and antifungal properties. Grapefruit Oil is antiseptic and also helps reduce excessive sweating (yes please).

The recipe is rounded out with healing local Beeswax and rich Cocoa Butter and Sesame Oil to hydrate and protect your feet. Carrot Tissue Oil penetrates deeply into the skin to hydrate and repair cracked feet. It also contains beta carotene which aids in revitalizing the skin's elasticity and prevents sores and calluses, making it hiking season’s best friend.

Karina’s Tip: Apply the butter to your feet at night so they can soak up the healing goodness while you sleep.

Have you tried our Foot Butter yet? What do you love about it?
